El origen del Cashmere

El origen del Cashmere se remonta a la época de los emperadores y los príncipes, hace mas de 400 años en Asia Central, donde utilizaban este material tan valioso como protección natural de las duras condiciones climáticas.
Desde entonces, la historia de esta excelente fibra natural ha pasado de las heredadas tradiciones hasta las creaciones mas contemporáneas, convirtiéndose en el tejido mas exclusivo y caro del mundo, también conocido como “ el diamante de los tejidos”.
Este material extraordinariamente lujoso, proviene de la región de Kashmir, lugar que le da históricamente el nombre conocido comercialmente como Cashmere.
El Cashmere, se extrae de la cabra Hircus, que solo vive en las montañas del Himalaya, a 4.300 metros por encima del nivel del mar.
Para poder sobrevivir a las extremas temperaturas a las que llega el invierno en las montañas del Himalaya, esta cabra, desarrolla una especie de abierto natural formado por miles de fibras muy finas y extraordinariamente suaves.
Con la llegada de la primera, cada año, los Sheperds, esquilan este abrigo natural de las cabras usando la técnica de peinado totalmente inofensiva para el animal, liberándolo de su abrigo natural y preparándolo para las temperaturas mas suaves.
Una única cabra puede generar entre 150 y 200 gramos de fibra cada año, y se necesita la producción anual de dos o tres cabras para la elaboración de una pashmina.
Una de las razones por las cuales el Cashmere es tan preciado y tienen un valor tan alto en el mercado es justamente la cantidad limitada que existe de esta fibra.
Por ese motivo y por las maravillosas propiedades que tiene, tener una pashmina es como tener un diamante que pasara de generación en generación.

Since then, the history of this excellent yarn has gone across traditional heritage to contemporary creations, becoming one of the most exclusive and expensive fabrics in the world, also know as “The diamond fabric”.

This amazing cashmere comes exclusively from the underbelly of the Capra Hircus goat, in the most remote regions of the Himalayas.

So in order to survive extream temperatures changes during the Himalayan Winter, the Hircus goat ,grow a thick undercoat made of thousands of very fine and extraordinarily soft fibres.
Every spring when the weather is milder, shepherds harvest the undercoat from the goats using the “combing technique” , a procedure that it is completely harmless for the animals.
You may be surprised to discover that it takes the entire annual growth of three of these goats to create just one pashmina shawl. But take comfort in the fact that these goats are not harmed during the process of producing pashmina.
One single Hircus goat can yield approximately between 150 and 200 grams of undercoat every day.
